Collection of exhibition announcements, posters and exhibition catalogs documenting the exhibitions held at Virginia Dwan's
influentional galleries in Los Angeles and New York. In the early sixties, Dwan introduced artists such as Robert Rauschenberg,
Claes Oldenberg, and Yves Klein to Los Angeles, and then worked with Robert Smithson, Michael Heizer, and others upon her
move to New York in 1965.
Background
Virignia Dwan owned and operated two influential galleries, in Los Angeles and New York. The galleries were known for showing
minimalist, earthwork, and conceptual art by primarily New York and French artists.
