Description
Record Series 796 contains the internal reference copies of UCLA oral history transcripts maintained and used by staff of the Center for Oral History Research. Transcripts duplicate those available in Library Special Collections (Collection 300) and California State Archives oral history transcripts generated by the California State Government Oral History Program. Transcripts document the history of Southern California through interviews with individuals who have participated in the region's most salient social and political trends. Included are interviews on the arts, social movements, politics and government, and the history of the University of California, Los Angeles.
Background
Established in 1959 as the Oral History Program, the Center for Oral History Research (COHR) is a subunit within UCLA Library Special Collections. COHR documents the history of Southern California through interviews with individuals who have participated in the region's most salient social and political trends.
