Description
The John Muir College publications include academic and residential handbooks, and newsletters. The publications provided policy and education information for current and/or prospective students, and their parents.
Background
John Muir College was the second college to be founded at UCSD and admitted its first students in 1967. The college, named after environmentalist and founder of the Sierra Club, has a humanitarian emphasis on its general education requirements and a loosely structured curriculum around "sequences" and individual study. The founding provost of Muir College was John Lincoln Stewart; writer, musician, and educator who taught the Muir course "The Wilderness and Human Values."
