A. C. Dixon (1854-1925) was born in North Carolina and was graduated from Wake Forest College (1875). He pastored in North Carolina and Baltimore, MD, where he established a reputation as a Bible teacher and preacher. He became a popular Bible Conference speaker. His renown as a speaker continued to grow; he was well received in England and then in the U.S., was invited to preach with D. L. Moody at the World’s Fair evangelistic campaign. He pastored the Ruggles Street Church in Boston (1901-1906), Moody’s Chicago Avenue Church (1906-1911) and Spurgeon’s Tabernacle (1911-1919). He was chairman of the London Baptist Association from 1915-1916. He was active in the Baptist World Alliance. After returning to the U.S.A., he taught briefly at the Bible Institute of Los Angeles and undertook a preaching tour in Japan and China, before pastoring at University Baptist Church, Baltimore. An ardent premillenialist and fundamentalist, he served at the first secretary and editor of the first five volumes (of ten) of The Fundamentals (1910-1915). This collection preserves his papers in a microfiche edition of 617 fiche. The originals are held by the Southern Baptist Historical Commission and housed at the Southern Baptist Historical Library and Archives.
