Description
This collection contains the diary of John Henry Lick in which he made infrequent daily entries from January 22, 1856 to September 12, 1856.
Background
John Henry Lick was born June 30, 1818 in Fredricksburg, Pennsylvania. The son of Pioneer James Lick, he arrived in California, June 16, 1855 aboard the vessel "John L. Steaphen". He spent many years as a Notary Public in San Francisco and the Nevada territory. He died October 2, 1891 in Lickdale, Pennsylvania.
