Scope and Content Note

This subseries primarily consists of Board of Directors meeting minutes dating from the establishment of the Executive Board in 1911 to 1992. Meeting minutes from the years 1911-1947 are contained in minute books. In addition to minutes, the minute books also contain other material that is adhered to pages, including editions of LWVBAE publications Bulletin and Voters' News. Also included in this subseries are meeting agendas, memos, and Board of Directors policies dating from the late 1960s to the early 1990s.

Scope and Content Note

This subseries contains incoming and outgoing letters, memos, and lists of correspondence. Outgoing administrative correspondence is mostly from the president and various chairpersons and deals primarily with administrative issues such as meeting and event notification, clarification of league positions and programs, and personnel issues. Also included in this subseries are LWVBAE appointment recommendations to local boards and commissions. The bulk of this subseries dates from the 1950s to 1990.

This subseries consists of records relating to newsletters, directories, brochures, and calendars published by the LWVBAE. The Berkeley Voter file contains records only, as the publications were removed and cataloged separately, all other files contain publications. Editions of Bulletin and Voters' News may also be found adhered in minute books located in Subseries 1.1 Board of Directors, and Subseries 1.6 Meetings. Also included in this subseries is a Publications File notebook containing reports, orders, notices, and correspondence pertaining to publication activity during 1959 to 1961. Publications relating specifically to the Election Services program, including Candidates' Questionnaire, Pros and Cons, and Voters Guide to Candidates and Issues, are located in Subseries 3.2, Information Services.

Scope and Content Note

This subseries contains material relating to local studies, support positions, and action. Records in this subseries include correspondence, position statements, reports, meeting records, clippings, and notes. Records were largely filed by topic under the support position in which they pertain. LWVBAE support positions listed in this subseries include government structure, city finances, planning, government services, education, and social policy. Each of these support positions has one or more general action and position files associated with it, as well as several files on specific studies, positions, or action. Around 1980, the league began interfiling the general action and position records in chronological order rather than organizing them by support position. As a result, the General Action and Positions files dating from 1980 to 1993 are located at the end of this subseries and are not organized under any particular support position.
