Description
The Amos 'n' Andy radio show originated on WMAQ in Chicago in 1928, and went on to became the longest-running radio program in broadcast history. The collection consists of Amos 'n' Andy radio scripts (October 1943 through May 1953.
Background
The Amos 'n' Andy radio show originated on WMAQ in Chicago, Mar. 19, 1928. It was first known as Sam 'n Henry and was conceived by Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll, two white actors who protrayed the characters Amos Jones and Andy Brown. The program went on to become the longest-running radio program in broadcast history.
