Description
William A. Bacher (1900- ) practiced dentistry for 10 years before becoming a radio producer in 1929. He joined 20th Century-Fox in 1943 and produced Wing and a Prayer (1944), Leave her to Heaven (1945), and Carnival in Costa Rica (1947). He also co-wrote and produced Untamed in 1955. The collection consists of radio scripts of series produced by Bacher, phonograph recordings of Treasury star parade programs, and various screenplays and treatments sent to Bacher but never produced.
Background
Bacher was born in Rumania on October 20, 1900; DDS, Univsity of Illinois; LL.B, New Jersey Law School; practiced dentistry for 10 years; entered radio in 1929 as a producer; radio productions included: Palmolive Beauty Box Theatre, Texaco Star Theatre, Camel Caravan, and Treasury Star Parade; did 168 broadcasts for U.S. Treasury Department and bond programs during World War II; joined 20th Century-Fox in 1943 and produced Wing and a Prayer (1944), Leave her to Heaven (1945), and Carnival in Costa Rica (1947); edited book on Treasury star parade; co-wrote and produced Untamed in 1955.
