Description
The collection is comprised of photographs of businesses and
cultural festivals within Southeast Asian American communities. The photographs were
taken by Anne Frank, librarian of the Southeast Asian Archive at the University of
California, Irvine. The communities include those in Long Beach, California; Lowell,
Massachusetts; Little Saigon in Garden Grove and Westminster, California and other
cities in the United States.
Background
Anne Frank is the founding librarian for the UC Irvine Libraries Southeast Asian
Archive. She has been employed by the UCI Libraries since 1966 and has worked there
also as a humanities cataloger and general reference librarian. Prior to her
employment at UCI she was a reference and bookmobile librarian for the Multnomah
County Library in Portland, Oregon and a bibliographer for the University of
California Berkeley Library. She received her B.A. and M.L.S. from the University of
California, Berkeley and a M.A. in Public History and Historic Preservation from
California State University, Dominguez Hills.
