In addition to Hennessy's speech, the program also included remarks by Isaac Stein, president of the Board of Trustees, the
Rev. Scotty McLennan, dean for religious life, and former university presidents Gerhard Casper, Donald Kennedy and Richard
W. Lyman; the reading by English Professor Eavan Boland of a poem by Denise Levertov; and a varied selection of music and
performers that included a song, "The Call of the West," composed by Giancarlo Aquilanti, DMA '96, especially for the occasion.
