See was born January 13, 1934 in Pasadena, California; BA, Los Angeles State College of Applied Arts and Sciences (now California
State Los Angeles), 1957; MA (1961) and Ph.D (1963), UCLA; published books include: The rest is done with mirrors (1970), Blue money (1973), Mothers, daughters (1977), and Rhine maidens (1981); co-wrote Two schools of thought (1991) with John Espey; taught at UCLA, Department of English; has also written collaborative books with John Espy and her
daughter Lisa See Kendall under the joint pseudonym, Monica Highland: Lotus Land (1983), 110 Shanghai road (1986), Golden days (1986), Greetings from Southern California (1988) and Precious cargo (1990).
