Description
Stanley Meyer was a veteran film and television producer, most well known for his collaboration on the radio and television series Dragnet. The collection includes twenty-seven bound volumes containing scripts, photographs and production information for radio and television productions of Dragnet.
Background
There is little biographical information available about Stanley Meyer. Born December 24, 1913 Meyer served as an intelligence officer in the Marine Corps during World War II before entering the entertainment industry. Best known for his work as producer and co-owner of the television series Dragnet, Meyer also produced film and television projects through his association with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studios and Filmmaster, Ltd. In addition to receving recognition for his work as a producer, Meyer garnered several awards for his humanitarian work helping disadvantaged youth apply to higher education. After undergoing bypass surgery, Meyer died in Santa Monica of heart failure on December 18, 1999.
