Scope and Content

The descriptions in this list were taken from Jackson's Descriptive Catalogue of Photographs of North American Indians (United States. Geological Survey of the Territories. Misc. Pub., no. 9. Washington, 1877. Bancroft call no.: E89.J15). Some of the prints bear no photographer's number and were identified by comparison with Clarence S. Jackson's Picture Maker of the West (New York, 1947). Only one print remains unidentified. To this collection has been appended a portrait of Bill Hamilton.
The originals, mounted on 11x14 boards, are shelved as 1964.052--AX, and are RESTRICTED.
